Department of Soil and water Resources
Department of Soil and Water Resources was established in 2004, where the department had prepared a team of experts specialists in soil, and contributed to planning and supervising the implementation of its projects related to soil areas, in terms of soil reclamation, determining water types, uses, and carrying out studies to determine the nature of lands and their various uses.
Vision and Mission of the department
Leadership and excellence in aspects of soil science, water, and environmental resources, specializing in solving the problems of gypsum, saline, and limestone soils in Iraq. It provides innovative education and distinguished research that anticipates the needs of society to build a knowledge economy in the fields of soil sciences, water resources, and environment.
Department Goals
1- Graduating several specialists and researchers to work in fields of soil sciences and water resources in governmental and private institutions - and relevant laboratories and research centers.
2- Conducting studies and research closely related to community service, problems of gypsum soils, and environmental pollution, to develop agricultural production and increase crop productivity.
3- Providing scientific consultations to numerous institutions, as well as conducting analyses of soil, water, plant, and chemical-organic fertilizer samples to people and non-governmental agencies at the department’s laboratories.
4- Cooperating with institutions and companies by conducting joint research and studies to solve the problems that obstruct the work and activity of these institutions and find solutions to them.
5- Holding specialized seminars to clarify challenges and diagnose problems that face the areas of soil and water resources, especially gypsum soils in Iraq, and cooperating with the media in issuing educational and guidance articles.
